"Priestley Goes Pop!" at Warrington Market

The Priestley College Level 3 Extended Diploma Art and Design students have had the fantastic opportunity undertake a live brief responding to Warrington Market, to include the environment and individual stalls, the store holders, and their customers. Here, the students have created a mixed media body of work that utilises fashion construction techniques and a variety of textile processes to create garments, aprons and bags that all represent and celebrate the community and atmosphere of the market.

Many of our students have not studied textiles before, so our Pop up Shop showcases their first experience of designing and experimenting with sewing and textile techniques - this body of work is a credit to them as they have created a vibrant array of work, to interpret their own individual experience and enjoyment of the market.

We would like to thank all of the stall holders and the market staff, for their generous welcome and allowing us to interview and photograph them. We hope you enjoy the exhibition and please check out the students Art work on the mezzanine.
